Wednesday's Website

http://www.sonlight.com/p34.html

Sonlight is a homeschooling curriculum. It really seems very comprehensive and if that was the route we were taking I think I would probably use it.

But we are planning to send Josh to school in the Fall and just "afterschool" him. So, what I really use this website for is the AMAZING booklists. I check the books out of the library when I need them. I linked to the preschool list but make sure you check out the other lists as well. We are currently using the K and 1st Grade lists. They span many subject areas including Science, History, Geography, Handwriting, Literature, etc...

We too are seriously considering sending Cate to kindergarten. I haven't mentioned it on my blog yet. I'm having the same breakdown issues regarding which school. :)

I would love to focus on creating an afterschooling blog community. If there is one thing that the homeschooling community has taught me it is how to create a home for learning. Learning is not going to stop just because she goes to school.

I hope you enjoy your last few months one on one with Josh. My younger child has put a huge pinch in our homeschooling activiites. So I can understand the babysitting changes.

Such a hard decision! I wanted to homeschool him but I honestly do not think it the right choice for him.

But, now I can not find a school that feels right...

The one we liked wants him to be in the young 5's program because his birthday falls 2 days after their June 1st date. They have never met him! That would be 2 years of Kinder for the boy who can read chapter books. SO FRUSTRATING!

We have sonlight too and do a mix of K & 1. We are also sending Alex to K next fall. It's so fustrating. We have a great public school but I really like how some of the private schools in our area have academic ability pairing instead of grade level pairing for Reading/Math.
We have the same issues of an advanced reader- and finding a place where she will "fit" in.

I honestly do not think I have ever been as frustrated as I am with this school hunt!
