Any Ideas?

Josh really wants an easy bake oven for his birthday. I just feel like it is kind of a waste. You know we have an oven, toaster oven and microwave! So does anyone have an ideas of a gift that would be related but not a cooking appliance?

Thanks!

How about some fun small baking molds - I know I have seen the silicone ones in all kinds of shapes, even animals. Add in some ready-to-go baking mixes (boxed or make your own) and some fun decorating supplies. Good luck avoiding the Easy Bake Oven! :)

I wonder what is available in baking mixes that do not include dye?? Maybe I could make a few jar mixes...

My nephew is really into cooking, maybe the same age as Josh, he will be 5 in the summer. Anyway, I made him a chefs hat and apron and my mom bought him the 'pretend Soup' book and she also got him some cute kids sized kitchen equipment from Ikea.

I think I know some organic cake mixes without some dye. I'll have a look around next time I go to the health store!

Hi! I have been reading your blog for a while, but had to chime in here. I have heard really good things about the children's sized bakeware/cookware from Bella Bistro/Toysmith. It is real bakeware that is child sized and can be used in a real oven as opposed to a make believe toy. You can find it on Amazon. I plan to get some for my son when he is a little older.

Courtney,

That is a really good idea. I was not thrilled with the baking sweets part of the easy bake. We do not do junk food too much. Also, Josh can not have dye and hates chocolate. Hmmm, so many possibilities!

How about Shrinky Dinks? THey have their own heating appliance now, too!

I will have to check out the shrinky dinks. Although I think I would rather just do them in the oven...less to store etc...
